Here you will find answers to frequently asked questions about Nordic Knitting Society and our services.

We have closed down Nordic Knitting Society
We are sad to say that we have decided to close down Nordic Knitting Society. December 2025 was the last month for our pattern subscriptions. Please download your patterns through My Account -> Downloads or get them for free through the Shop (but please doublee check that the price becomes zero). If you have any problem you can reach us through our customer support (kundservice@nordicknittingsociety.se) or Instagram.

Where can I find my patterns?
You can always find the current monthly patterns under My Account -> Downloads on the web and under “My NKS patterns” in the app. When we change the calendar month, we also change the patterns of the subscriptions and then the previous patterns disappear from the above locations.

As a previous subscriber, you have the opportunity to download the previous patterns for free from our store. When you enter the store on the web, you will clearly see that it says “Member Discount” on previous patterns and that the price is SEK 0. In the app it is not as clear, there the price is crossed out but it is only when you get to the shopping cart that you see that the price is SEK 0.

Once you have downloaded the patterns for free from the shop, they will appear permanently under My Account -> Downloads on the web and under My NKS patterns in the app.

What is the Pattern of the Month?
Every calendar month, as a subscriber to Pattern of the Month, you will receive a new exclusive pattern, such as a sweater or cardigan, or perhaps a vest, skirt or dress.
We try to create a great variety within our niche, Nordic Design, your subscription helps our designers to continue with their work!

How does Sock Club work?
Every month, subscribers to our sock club receive a new exciting sock pattern.
Over the course of a calendar year, you will meet different sock designers, each with their own style, favorite techniques and little specialties. You may not love all the models and techniques, but we dare to promise that you will find new favorites!

How does the Seasonal Club work?
Every month, subscribers to our Seasonal Club receive a new, more seasonal pattern. It can be mittens, sets of various kinds, some shawls, but also hats, maybe some bags and pillowcases.
In other words, an exciting variety. We try to adapt patterns in the Seasonal Club to what you think is fun to knit during the current season.

NCP Forum
As the technical conditions in our forum could not be adapted to how we want it, we have currently chosen to turn off the forum. Right now we are working on other possibilities to find a better solution!

 

How does a gift card work?
In our shop it is possible to buy a gift card for another knitter, equivalent to a full year’s subscription to Månadens Mönster. In connection with the purchase, enter the recipient’s e-mail address and the date you want the person to receive their gift card, for example Christmas Eve or other important day.

When the recipient receives the gift card via email on the selected day, he/she can either click on the button in the email to directly activate the gift card in his/her Nordic Knitting Society account or he/she can copy the code provided in the email and enter it manually on the My Account page -> Gift Card. Enter the gift card code from the email (XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX) in the field that says “Enter gift card code…” and then click on the Activate button. The gift card will now appear under the Active Gift Cards heading.

Now go to your subscription under My Account -> Subscription and click on your subscription. There, make sure that “Pay with gift card” is activated, then the next monthly payment will be deducted from your gift card.

If you don’t already have a subscription, go to the store and buy the Pattern of the Month subscription and pay with the gift card. Please note that you must then, as instructed above, access the subscription via My Account – Subscription and make sure that “Pay with gift card” is activated, otherwise the gift card will not be used for future payments.

 

How does NKS think about editorial texts?
NKS’s main membership offering is and remains the “pattern of the month” but we try from time to time to contribute some editorial material about designers, materials or other things that we hope may be useful and interesting.
Please note that NKS will not will take sides with any political movement or engage in debate outside the areas in which we operate, i.e. designs/materials/technologies/copyright.

Why should I subscribe to Nordic Knitting Society?

You get an exclusive pattern for only 39-59 SEK/month during your subscription.
Nordic Knitting Society protects our Nordic design heritage and through our platform wants to highlight often smaller, not infrequently female, enterprising entrepreneurs / creators. For the benefit of several pattern designers in the Nordic region, Nordic Knitting Society has created a platform, nordicknittingsociety.se, where you, by becoming a member, start subscribing to the “pattern of the month”. You contribute to our designers being able to continue their design work and our Nordic knitting culture.

How do I start a subscription?
You can subscribe to NKS by going to Subscribe in the menu, even easier is to go directly to our store and put the pattern of the month, the seasonal club or the sock club in your cart. A monthly billing will now be made each month. You can subscribe to all three clubs at the same time.

 

What kind of pattern is it?
It is our designers who control the design/expression of the pattern. They are design professionals, not us.
However, Nordic Knitting Society tries to adapt patterns so that the finished garment can be knitted ready for use during the appropriate season. Depending on how fast you knit and whether you live in the north or south, this may vary. We hope you understand this!

Can I become a member at any time of the month?
Yes! You can become a member throughout the calendar month. No matter when in the month you become a member, you will have access to that month’s pattern. If you join in the last few hours of a calendar month and you can’t access the pattern, contact us and we’ll sort it out!

Payments – how does it work?

What is the exact range for a monthly subscription, i.e. is it 30 days?

The time between a monthly billing interval is one month. This means 30 days for some months (April, June, etc.), 31 days for others, and then 28 or 29 days for February.
If a monthly subscription is created on February 15, the next payment will be charged on March 15.

What about subscriptions purchased on the last day of the month?

If a subscription is purchased on the last day of the month, recurring payments will continue to be charged on the last day of the month. For example, if a subscription of 59 SEK/month is purchased on December 31, its next four payments will be charged on:

31 January/28 February (or 29 February for a leap year)/31 March/ 30 April

What about purchases with recurring payments on the 28th, 29th or 30th day of the month?

This system will also be used if the day on which a payment is normally debited is not the last day of the month, but it is the 28th, 29th or 30th day of the month, and the next payment is due in February, which has no 30th day (and no 29th day in non-fiscal years)

Help! I missed my subscription, can I get access to the Pattern of the Month afterwards?
No worries! You can become a member at any time during a month and get access to the pattern of the month. If you have missed previously published patterns, you can buy these patterns in our store/shop, this can be done the calendar month after its publication as the pattern of the month is exclusive to the subscribers for some time. All patterns are available in Swedish and English (sometimes additional languages, but then as a bonus)

You may wonder how the Nordic Knitting Society can be so affordable while contributing to the survival of designers?
The magic formula is called volume!
The more subscribers we have, the more we pay our designers!
Maybe you are like us? Buying at least one, often several patterns per month via Ravelry or some other platform? Then you will soon realize that Nordic Knitting Society is very affordable, and consider that you get so much more than just a pattern!

How do I cancel my membership?
I’m sorry you want to leave us! Of course, you can unsubscribe at any time you wish. Please give us feedback on why you choose to unsubscribe! All info is valuable to us and we would love to try to improve!

If you are still determined to leave us, here’s what to do:
Go to My Account (you can find it under the “Shop” heading in the menu). There, click on “Subscriptions” to see a list of your subscriptions. Click on the “View” button for the subscription you want to cancel. Once on the subscription page, click the “Cancel” button to end your subscription. You will then see that the status of the subscription has changed to “Waiting to be canceled”. This means that it will end before the next payment date. You can see that the end date shows the date when the next payment was due. After that date has passed, the status will instead change to “Canceled”.

In order for us to ensure that our payment servicepartners have time to complete the termination of the subscription before the next draw, we need your cancellation of the subscription one working week before your next payment. It may work with later termination, but nothing we can guarantee.

How do you select your designers?
Our basic criterion is that you should be a designer working in Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland or Iceland. Most of our designers are not able to make a living from their designs, we want, if we can, to help designers reach out to a wider audience and give them the opportunity to get paid well for their designs.
Some designers we asked have chosen not to participate.

Payment – how does it work?
For the time being, you can pay for subscriptions and designs by card via the Stripe payment service. We are in the process of signing agreements with additional payment solutions, but cannot say when they will be in place. We adhere to the regulations and laws that apply under consumer legislation in Sweden.

How can I get last month’s pattern?
When we move to a new calendar month, a new pattern is published and the previous pattern is removed from the subscription. In connection with this, it will automatically be free for you as a previous subscriber to download the previous pattern from the store. In the store on the web, you will clearly see that the price is SEK 0, while in the app it is not clear that the price is zero until you put the pattern in the shopping cart. Once you have completed the free purchase, the pattern is available among your Downloads under My Account, just like during the subscription month. In the app, you can find your patterns under My NKS patterns on the home screen.

 

How do I use a discount code in the NKS store?
Go to the store and select the item you want to buy with the discount code. When you are in the shopping cart, you will see a gray field “Discount code” where you write the discount code. Then click on “Apply discount code” and you should see that the amount of the discount code has been applied to the shopping cart. Then you complete the purchase as usual.

 

Open pattern file on iPhone
We have received a number of questions about how to open a pattern file on iPhone. It seems to work differently depending on the model and the browser you use, but below are some examples:

If you use Safari, the pattern file usually opens directly on the screen. In Safari, you can also choose to long click on the link (hold your finger for a moment on the link). This will bring up a menu on the screen where you can select “Get linked file”. If you select “Download linked file” in the menu, you should then find the app called “Files” on your iPhone and the pattern should be there.

If you are using Chrome as your browser, the pattern will not appear on the screen but at the bottom of the screen a small text and link will appear that says “Download”. Click on “Download” and the text “Open in” will appear at the bottom of the page instead, and when you click on “Open in” you will be given the option to choose which app to use to open the pattern. Here you can, for example, choose “Save in Files” and the pattern will end up in the Files app.

 

Where can I find a discount code for yarn sometimes provided for patterns?
In cases where there is a discount code for the purchase of yarn etc. for specific patterns, this discount code is always written inside the pattern file.
